Overview

Nutmeg Personal Chef Service provides complete meals prepared in your kitchen with ingredients purchased that day. Your personal chef brings her “kitchen toolkit” complete with all the necessary utensils, pots, pans, knives and staple ingredients. She uses only your counter space, your major appliances, countertops, space in your refrigerator or freezer to store your meals, and your kitchen sink.

Once your meal (or meals) is complete, your personal chef cleans up, packs her toolkit, packages, labels and places your meals in the refrigerator or freezer and leaves your kitchen as she found it.

Two Service Options

Both service options include:

  • Initial client interview
  • Menu planning and preparation based on information gathered from the client interview;
  • Grocery shopping
  • Meal preparation, storage, and quick-and-easy heating and serving instructions
  • Kitchen cleanup
  • Nutmeg Portable Pantry: these are staple items like flour, sugar, dry spices, oils and condiments that are used in everyday cooking but may not be available in your kitchen.
  • Delicious meals, including side dishes, prepared and stored for you to enjoy.

Fresh Weekly Service

Dinner entrees are prepared, packaged and stored in the refrigerator. This allows Nutmeg to provide fresher, seasonal fruits and vegetables and letting you savor the freshness and flavor. These meals should be eaten within 3 days of preparation.

Biweekly Service

Ideal for the frequent traveler, social urbanite or busy family, dinner entrees are prepared, packaged and stored in the freezer giving you the flexibility to eat out or dine in.

Pricing

Pricing combines a flat service fee based on the number of meals ordered with the cost of groceries for your meals.

This structure allows your personal chef to adapt to your existing shopping habits. Nutmeg’s relationships with local farmers, meat purveyors, organic grocers, and metro-area grocery stores give your personal chef the unique ability to mirror your shopping habits. This can accommodate everyone from the 100% organic eater to the whatever’s-on-sale eater and anyone in between. Nutmeg is committed to selecting the freshest, highest-quality ingredients based on your preferences.

Payment

Services fees are due in advance of your cook date. Grocery receipts are scanned and emailed to you with an invoice. Grocery payments are due within 7 days of receipt.

Food Packaging

Entrees are packaged in single, double, or family servings in either reusable glass containers or disposable containers. This preference is determined during your initial client interview. Disposable containers are replaced as needed and will appear on your grocery invoice.

Sample Menu

Below is a sample list of entrees that can be prepared by your personal chef. Each entree is paired with one or two side dishes depending on the entree and based on your preferences. For example, a poultry or fish entree is typically service with two sides, usually a starch and a vegetable. But a casserole or pasta entree containing vegetables and/or protein will typically come with one side.

This is only a small selection of Nutmeg's dinner selections. Your menu will be tailored to fit your personal tastes and dietary needs while keeping with seasonal availability of menu items.

2. Complete your client interview. At this hour-long session, your personal chef will:

  • Discuss your food tastes and dietary needs;
  • Document any food allergies or aversions;
  • Review the menu services and options;
  • Tour your kitchen

3. Choose your menu service and customize your menu.

4. Pay your deposit and choose a start date.
